Our hybrid and electric car batteries come with a reassuring 8-year/100,000-mile warranty. We’re proud of our battery’s strength and durability, and we guarantee that your car will retain at least 80% (and probably much more) of its original power and range while still in warranty.
HOW IT WORKS
Our hybrid and electric car batteries are similar to the battery in your smartphone. But rather than a single unit, EVs use a pack, with thousands of Li-ion cells working together.
Here’s how EV batteries work: a charge gives the batteries chemical energy, which they can then ‘discharge’ into the connected motor. This is what drives the car and gives your Ford EV such a smooth ride.
Lithium-ion batteries are by far the best option for EVs available today, and we use them in all of our electric and hybrid cars. But there are differences in size and power, depending on the demands of the vehicle.
Our all-electric Mustang Mach-E has a 99 kWh Extended Range battery that can deliver up to 379 miles on a single charge.
BUILT TO LAST
Electric car batteries are built to last the entire life of the vehicle. They lose a little potency over time, but not as much as you might think. Maybe 1-2% a year, which is only noticeable if you drive the car’s maximum range regularly. The best way to optimise the lifespan of your EV battery is to drive smoothly and to avoid extreme temperatures when possible. And if there’s a problem, all Ford hybrid and electric car batteries come with an 8-year warranty.
CARING FOR YOUR BATTERY

Very occasionally, a battery will have a minor fault. We will repair it as quickly and easily as possible. And if we can’t, we’ll replace it with a new one.
When you need an EV battery replacement within warranty, we’ll remove it, recycle it and replace it with a new one. Simple as that.
